Why Goals are important

Goals are important if we know where we are headed it’s easier to stay on track. Having a goal to work towards can help us feel  motivated to keep going.

How to set Goals

Setting a long term goal would be a final destination of something you would like to achieve, these larger goals can sometimes feel too distant or too much and possibly the thought of working towards them may feel a little overwhelming. So by breaking this long term goal down into smaller more achievable short term goals we make the whole process more manageable, and we will also feel positive about the journey when we hit our small goals encouraging us to keep going

Keeping to your Goals

Staying positive is key in achieving your goals, mindset is everything. When your glass seems half empty just pour your drink into a smaller glass and it will be full again. It can be helpful to break our goals down making them S.M.A.R.T;

S.M.A.R.T Goals

Specific: Be clear and specific so your goals are easier to achieve. This also helps you know how and where to get started.


Measurable: Measurable goals can be tracked, allowing you  to see your progress. They will also tell you when a goal is complete.


Achievable: Your goal needs to be realistic with your current situation and you need the tools / resources to reach it.


Relevant: Your goals should align with your values and long term objectives.


Time bound: Set a realistic and ambitious end – date for task prioritization and motivation.
